Karen, Lindsey, Ryan O. and I stayed in Yellowstone NP during the first week of July 2012. Unfortunately Ryon W. had grad school classes at Northwestern and could not make the trip. We saw a lot of wildlife and had a great time. Total for the trip:
2 Grizzly bears, 8 Black Bears (including a couple of new cubs and a juvinile), 2 wolves, 1 coyote, 4 Pronghorn Antelope, 1 marmot, 3 eagles, 2 Sand Hill Cranes, 1 Moose, 20+ Elk, 2000+ Bison. Hear are some of the 4000 pictues.

  • In Hayden Valley, the bison started crossing the road to get to greener pastures across the river causing a wildlife traffic jam which is very common each night in this valley.

  • This guy was VERY close. He eyed me and I jumped back in the car and moved up road for the second time. They were all around us.

  • Part of the first wave of bison swimming accross the deep waters. >500 crossed the river. One person exclaimed, "I have been coming here for the last 3 years and never saw anything like this!" This was out first night entering the park. What a treat. Much like an African Wildebeast migration.
